Car's favorite authors Satire: Fforde, Jones, Moore, Rankin, Robbins, Vonnegut

Douglas Adams

Douglas Adams -- Many years ago (early 1980s), an Englishman (Hi Jon!) I was working with recommended Douglas Adams for some farout science fiction. You've probably heard of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by now. The BBC did a rather low-budget version of the book and, more recently, another version was release. (Be aware if you take the link that there are multiple Douglas Adams writing books.)

Fforde, Jasper

First Book of a great series, Thursday Next. **** I like the Thursday Next Series better than the Nursery Crime Series but they are both fun.

Christopher Moore

The story of Christ's missing years told by Christ's childhood friend, Biff. ****
My favorite!

General comment about the author -- Personally, I could do with less of the sex talk.

Robert Rankin
You just have to read one of these books -- it would take too long to explain. Somehow, you get sucked into Rankin's crazy world and get addicted. He's been compared to Douglas Adams (Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy).

The Brentford Trilogy: The Antipope, The Brentford Triangle, East of Ealing, The Sprouts of Wrath, The Brentford Chainstore Massacre, Sex and Drugs and Sausage Rolls, Knees Up Mother Earth (2004) (which is also the second of the Witches of Chiswick trilogy)

Witches of Chiswick Trilogy: The Witches of Chiswick (2003) -- takes places in Brentford and throughout history. Just in case you didn't know, some witches rewrote history. Computers were around in the 19th century and life was very different than what has been presented in our history books. But, never fear, a sprout named Barry living in the ear of William Starling, William Starling, and his half brother are out to uncover the truth. Knees Up Mother Earth (2004) -- takes place in Brentford. To save the world, the infamous football (soccer) team has to win the FA Cup. (which is also book seven of the Brentford Trilogy).

The Armageddon Trilogy: Armageddon: The Musical, They Came and Ate Us, The Suburban Book of the Dead

Cornelius Murphy Trilogy: The Book of Ultimate Truths, Raiders of the Lost Car Park, The Most Amazing Man Who Ever Lived.

The Trilogy That Dare Not Speak Its Name Trilogy:
Sprout Mask Replica, The Dance of the Voodoo Handbag, and Waiting for Godalming.
